FAQ

Questions and answers

For people buying with BOKA, and for businesses selling with it.

For customers

What is a surprise box?

A box of good food a shop has left at the end of the day. You know the shop, the type of food and the price; the exact contents depend on what is left.

Can I choose what is inside?

Not for a surprise box, which is the point: the shop fills it with what did not sell. Some shops also list single items, which you can choose exactly.

How do I pay?

In the app, when you reserve. Your box is then set aside for you.

When do I collect it?

During the pickup time shown on the box, usually just before the shop closes. Show your code at the counter.

When can I download the app?

Soon. It is on its way to the App Store and Google Play, and the buttons on this site will work as soon as it is out.

For businesses

Who can join?

Bakeries, cafés, restaurants, grocers, delis, florists and other shops in any of BOKA's nine categories.

What does it cost?

BOKA takes a commission on what you sell. We share the terms with you when we review your application.

How do I get paid?

Your earnings build up as orders are collected, and are settled to your account on a regular schedule, not order by order.

How long does approval take?

A person reviews every application. We email you as soon as there is a decision, and you can follow its progress when you sign in.

Who sets the price?

You do, as long as the discount meets BOKA's guaranteed minimum.
